Rise in Male Domestic Violence victims

7th May, 2014

When thinking of domestic violence, often we think about females being the victims and males being the perpetrators. However, figures recently published have suggested that a growing number of men are becoming victims of domestic abuse.

The latest data has revealed that during 2012 there were 17 cases of men being killed by their partners; whilst more recent figures have revealed that as many as 40 percent of calls to the police in relation to domestic violence see males being the victim.

The figures have also suggested that each year in England and Wales, nearly 800,00 males experience some form of domestic abuse or violence; whilst estimates have suggested that one in five males will experience some form of domestic abuse within their lifetime.
