Rise in domestic violence convictions

Official figures which are set to be published later today (July 2nd) will show that the conviction rate for domestic violence related cases reached a record high last year; as police forces throughout the UK continue to crackdown on such incidents.

It is estimated that ten percent of the Crown Prosecution Service’s workload relates to domestic violence cases; with the police referring over 17 percent more cases last year for prosecution, compared to the year before.

In total, the figures have revealed that 72,905 cases related to domestic violence throughout the UK were taken to trial last year; with 74.6 percent resulting in a conviction.

Whilst the latest figures have revealed that last year there was a rise in the number convictions relating to domestic violence; as family law solicitors in Lincoln, we understand that many domestic abuse cases are covered up and left unreported.
