Long running child contact case continues

20th May, 2014

Earlier this month, it was reported that a father has spent in excess of £100,000 in legal fees during a long running child contact case; after his ex-partner refused him contact with their 14 year old daughter.

The couple, who previously lived together for ten years, before separating when the daughter was 21 months old; and since then they have been embroiled in a 12 year legal battle; with the mother refusing her ex-partner contact with their child.

According to reports into the case, in excess of 80 court orders have been made, since 2006, stating that the father must be allowed to see his daughter; however none of the orders have been enforced – which a senior judge stated has “failed the whole family”.

It has also been estimated that almost a dozen social workers have represented the child involved during the legal process; whilst roughly seven judges have ruled on the case, with the Court of Appeal ruling in February that the case must be resolved.
